Art Classes

What the workshop will give you:
An exciting two morning workshop, each two hours in duration. Hosted by Artist Siobhan Conway, the workshops will introduce you to the excitement of leisure painting in the medium of water colours.
You are asked to bring your favorite photographs of Monasterevin, as a source of inspiration for your painting.
All the art materials are supplied by the Festival Organisers and you get to take your work of art home.
Siobhan Conway is a graduate of the National College of Art & Design

Lantern & Recycling Workshop for Children

As part of the Street Festival – Sunday 11th July and Saturday 17th July.
The workshop will take place on Main Street.
Children will learn use their creative skills by making paper lanterns which they can display during the street festival.
No charge – booking on first come first serves basis on the day/s 4 workshops during the Street Festival

Children Street Theatre Workshop

The workshop will take place on Main Street
Children will learn to use their acting and interactive skills and present a little drama on the street
No charge – booking on first come first served basis on the day/s 4 workshops during the Street Festival 2.00pm – 6.00pm – each day
Photography Workshop

Workshops will be held on Saturday 27th June and Saturday 3rd July
Venue – Monasterevin Parish Centre
Time 10.30 am – 3.30 pm – lunch break 1.00pm – 1.30pm (please provide your own lunch)
Cost – €20 for 2 day workshop inclusive of entry fee for exhibition.
The course covers the basics of the art of taking photographs, planning a shot and manipulating photographs using your camera. Students at this workshop will also have the opportunity to enter the Bridges of Monasterevin- Exhibition / Competition which will be held during the week long festival.
Day 1- Saturday 27th June you will learn how to use your camera (some knowledge on how to use your camera is beneficial but not essential) Go out and about taking pictures of the Bridges within the town. Select your best pictures.
Day 2- Saturday 3rd July- You will learn how to edit, print and mount your pictures which will be included in the Bridges of Monasterevin Photography Exhibition which will be held during the week of the festival in Monasterevin Credit Union. Workshop Students will need to bring their own camera and ideally have access to a laptop with relevant software for day 2 3rd July of the workshop.
The Bridges of Monasterevin Photography Exhibtion will be officially opened on Sunday 11th July at 4.00pm in the Monasterevin Credit Union Office.
(Entries to this exhibition/competition is open to non workshop students also)
Art Portfolio Workshop

Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th & Friday 16th July.
Time 10.30am- 12.30pm
Cost €20.00 for the 3 day course. Pre booking is essential, numbers limited to 10 – booking on a first come first served basis.
This workshop will be particular interest to Secondary & Third Level Art Students
A Brief Overview of the workshop
This course facilitated by Artist Siobhan Conway, will enable you to broaden and strengthen your creative abilities while examining the requirements of portfolio submission for entry to Art College.
You will be encouraged to explore your world and use experimentation to broaden and strengthen your creative ability in order to inform your ideas.
Over the three mornings, all students will rotate through the following workshops:
Workshop 1: Mind Mapping (Please bring an A4 artist notebook)
Workshop 2: Research and Idea development, using sketch books to record visual inspiration, influences and ideas.
Workshop 3: Students will have the opportunity to bring in their current portfolios for advice on selection and presentation of the work.
